2018 Picnic HOA Meeting Minutes

Date: July 18th, 2018
Where:Vasa Park (3560 W Lake Samammish Pkwy SE) at the big shelter (called "The Patio")
When:5:30 PM (closes at 8PM)
Catering:

  • We had 35 lbs of brisket, 21 lbs of chicken tenders, 56 hot dogs, prepared and cooked by HOA. Total cost: $323
  • Chandra Bhaskara brought several vegetarian dishes. Cost: $200

Entertainment:Vasa Park playground equipment and swimming.
Attendees: 60 adults; 14 kids (ages 6-14)

    • Expenditures have been around $7500
    • Dues paid is around $4500
      • Of 113 total homes, 90 have paid (79.6%), total of $4500
      • Of 105 owner occupied homes, 83 have paid (79%)
      • Of 8 rental homes, 7 have paid (87.5%)
    • Announced that we will be charging $100 for dues to cover expenses next year
    • Announced that copies of Treasurer’s Report were available
    • No details on expenses were desired when asking for a show of hands
  • Crime (Bruce)
    • House break-ins are down
    • Garage door break-ins are on the rise (especially older garage doors)
  • Survey of projects for next year (based on show of hands)
    • June for Got Junk trucks instead of July - yes
    • Curb painting desired - yes
    • Painting mailbox shelters - no
    • Neighborhood shredding truck - yes
  • Questions and input from residents:
    • Tall sound barrier wall is approved for 41.5 due to extension of Eastgate exit (Merci Sommer)
    • Question about knife injury at Sunrise Park - two men had an altercation, with one man stabbed. No more details were known.
  • Election (Bruce)
    • New nominees were asked to give a short bio on themselves
    • Ballots and pencils were handed out
    • Voting took place and ballots were collected
    • Votes were tallied with the following results:
      • President - Alex Britt
      • Vice President - Helen Shen
      • Treasurer - Ian Clanton-Thuon
      • Secretary - Alex Kwawarik
      • Social - Vickie Jaeger Ellis
    • Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 and clean up
