HOA Mailboxes

Mailboxes were installed in 2002 and are no longer made.

On 7/28/2014, a 12 unit mailbox was broken into at 170th Ave SE. Pictures are here

At first glance our mailboxes look similar to new ones, but the outgoing mail slot has been moved into the frame of the unit, to eliminate a thief being able to use this slot to pry off the door that opens the entire unit.

Some replacement options for a 12 unit mailbox:

The replacement of this 3"x12 7/8" door does not seem to be available anymore. A solid door version is is K91118SP (3" high) or K91119SP (5" high), from this catalog
Price is either $29 to replace the 3" door from here
A solid door replacement will not be in total compliance with USPS regulations , even if I cut out a "outgoing mail" slot of the appropriate dimensions: A mail deposit slot 10.75 inches wide by .75 inches high shall be provided with a weather shield and a security shield to protect the deposited mail from the rain and snow and to prevent removal of the mail by fishing and pilfering techniques through the deposit slot

Review posted on budgetmailboxes.com on 9/4/14:
I ordered a neighborhood 12 unit security mailbox (Auth Florence) with standard features and standard numbering scheme to replace one that had been vandalized. It shipped in 9 business days later and I received it 6 days after that, so it didn't conform to the promised 3-5 days shipping and I had some upset residents for a few days.

It did arrive well protected and was an improved design over the previous model, making it more vandal-proof. The instructions for installation were conveniently supplied by budgetmailboxes. Luckily, the older Auth Florence pedestal was the same bolt pattern as the new one and I was able to remove the older mailbox and install the new one within minutes. It was 3 inches taller than the older model, so we had to make some minor adjustments to a protective kiosk that covered the mailbox.

Overall, the end result has made my residents very happy. Our insurance adjuster was very happy with the price and the low cost of installation.
