Dear Sunset Community,
This morning at around 8:00 a.m., there was a theft incident near the southeast entrance to the Sunset parking lot. The mother of a Sunset second grader parked near the bottom of the stairs leading to KinderCare, locked her second grader and purse in her car, and walked her younger child to KinderCare. In the few minutes that it took her to drop off her youngster at KinderCare, a man drove up, stopped his vehicle near hers, got out, smashed her car window and reached in to grab her purse. Thankfully, the child in the car was not hurt.
The mom called 911 and Bellevue Police responded to the scene. The suspect was described as of slim build, with a black beard, about 5’ 10”. His vehicle was a short bed tan pickup truck. If you have any information on the vehicle or driver, please contact the Bellevue Police at 425-577-5656.
In light of this incident and because it’s always good to keep these points in mind, please remember these important safety tips:
Never leave children alone inside your vehicle.
Never leave purses or valuables inside your vehicle; if you must leave valuables, secure them completely out of sight.
Be alert to suspicious persons or vehicles in your vicinity.
Thank you for doing all you can to keep our children safe.
